New Year 2012

This blog has moved to
www.paperyoga.com

Here's a simple New Year's card designed with only one cut on your Cricut machine and three rectangle cuts that can be done by hand.

Cut the New Year 2012 SVG file from black card stock. Cut one rectangle (by hand) at 2" x 3-3/4" that will be placed behind the words "NEW YEAR." Cut one rectangle (by hand) at 5" x 1-1/2" that will be placed behind the word "HAPPY," and one rectangle (by hand) at 8" x 5" that will show as the border and the color behind the "2012."

Use a glue stick to apply the colored rectangles in the proper position behind the words "HAPPY" and "NEW YEAR," and then to attach the entire assembly onto the large 8" x 5" colored background.

Fold an 8-1/2" x 11" sheet of black card stock in half and glue the entire assembly onto the front of the card. There should be 1/4" black border on each side of the card. Finished card will fit into a standard 5-3/4" x 8-3/4" greeting card envelope.

One SVG file (newyear2012) is provided and can be downloaded below. The SVG file can be cut using the Sure Cuts A Lot software and a Cricut® cutting machine.

Christmas 2011

This Christmas card was designed so that it would be simple enough to cut and assemble in multiples. It took me about 3 hours to complete 20 cards, including the printing and attaching of the inside greeting. The SVG files provided are set up with multiple cuts of the same graphic, and are designed to fit on the small 6" x 12" cutting mat.

Cut as many wreaths as you need using bright green card stock, an equal quantity of bows using neon pink card stock, an equal quantity of the word "JOY" using neon orange card stock, and an equal quantity of the word "PEACE" using process blue card stock. Spray the backs of all pieces with spray glue. Use 8-1/2" x 11" black card stock folded in half for the base of the cards. Attach all of the wreaths first, then the bows and then the words "PEACE" and "JOY."

A PDF file of the inside greeting shown above is included with the SVG files. Print as many of the inside greeting as you need. If printing on 8-1/2" x 11" paper, you should cut 1/2" from all sides of the paper so that the inside greeting is 7-1/2" x 10".

Fold the inside greeting pages in half. Use a glue stick to put a small dot of glue on the back side of each of the top 2 corners of the inside greeting, and on the back top center below the fold. Carefully place the folded inside greeting into the folded outside card and press down to adhere the greeting to the inside of the card. Finished card will fit into a standard 5-3/4" x 8-3/4" greeting card envelope.

Four SVG files (wreath2, bow6, peace6 and joy9) and one PDF file of the inside greeting are provided and can be downloaded below. The SVG files can be cut using the Sure Cuts A Lot software and a Cricut® cutting machine.

Spring Note Card with SVG Files

This blog has moved to

Graphic circle motif with bright images of spring.

It's been a long time since I've used my Cricut, and even longer since I've posted anything new. This "Spring Card" was designed last year at about this time, but I never got around to posting it. Other things in life seem to have taken over...

It is so nice to see so many new "Best Followers in the World" and new subscribers to the RSS feed and e-mail list!

I'm going to be moving to another state in mid-April and will be busy packing and settling in over the next couple of months, but I'm going to to make an effort to start "doing Paper Yoga" again once I'm settled in at my new place (it's good for the soul).

Use 8-1/2" x 11" black card stock folded in half as the base card. Cut circles using as many different colors as you like. The brighter the paper, the better! Cut the circle overlay from white card stock. Spray the back of the white overlay with spray adhesive and adhere your cut out colored circles to the back of the white card stock. Spray the back of the entire assembly with spray adhesive and adhere to the front of the black card. Finished card size is 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and will fit into a standard 5-3/4" x 8-3/4" greeting card envelope.

Tip: Place the circle SVG file onto the SCAL mat 5 times and place 5 rows of colored paper on your Cricut mat to cut all of the 15 circles at once.

Two SVG files provided (circles and spring). The SVG files can be cut using the Sure Cuts A Lot software and a Cricut® cutting machine.
